What’s up, guys and gals. Thanks for visiting my WoW Schools blog. In this post, I won’t be talking about the WoW Schools Gold Guide because I got a tiny request for a new player the other day. She wanted to get some free gold making tips to get by with a level 20-something toon.

Easy. Here are some tried and tested gold tips that you will be able to find anywhere out there in the internet.

Firstly, you should take up 2 gathering professions. This is the easiest way to get a decent amount of gold while you quest about. Here’ a list of gathering professions you can take up to make gold in the Auction House:-

• Herbalism
• Skinning
• Mining

Fishing can sometimes get you a small amount of gold, but I won’t recommend it as the returns are pretty low too at level 20s. As a newbie player focusing on making gold, you might want stay away from these production professions:-

• Alchemy
• Leatherworking
• Blacksmithing
• Enchanting
• Engineering
• Tailoring

This is because the stuff you make from these professions won’t earn you a serious amount of gold. If you do not have a character that can gather the materials you need to level up these production professions, you will experience a significant gold sink instead. Not many people buy the low level items created by these professions, so for levels 1-300 of these professions, you will most likely lose more than you make in gold.

You will make more gold selling materials gathered from herbing, skinning and mining than selling your potions, or cloth or leathered armor. Gathering is also much simpler and easier, in my humble opinion.

The next tip, I would like to share is … Don’t sell your materials from herbs, skins or ores at the cheapest price in the AH. You have a very good chance at selling them at the 5th-10th cheapest price on the AH and earn marginally more every time you make a sale! Keep track of the market price, so that you can withhold your stock when the prices are too cheap for that day.

Next, sell your ‘grey’ named items to the vendor. Don’t bother wasting your time and money by Auctioning them off in the AH. If you’re curious about the value of your grey items that you’ve looted, you can google it and see which professions use it (if any). Chances are, grey items are just crap (or stuff that no one else will use) that you should sell off to the next nearest vendor.

Incidentally, some grey items can bring in a decent amount of money from the vendors too! So, don’t destroy them but do turn them in for cash.

On the same note, do sell your ‘white’, ‘green’ and ‘blue’ items on the Auction House. Whites are usually used as materials for other professions. Greens and blues will sell well for characters gearing to level up or will sometimes be picked up by (dis)Enchanting professionals if the price is attractive enough as well.

I’ve been playing WoW for over three years now and have rolled several Alliance and Horde characters. I have tried out most of the classes available in WoW and am sincerely looking forward to the upcoming Cataclysm expansion. I will be rolling a Worgen and can’t wait!

Anyway, the reason why I created this blog was to share with you my experience of using the WoW Schools Gold Guide which I bought around 3 years ago. I have been procrastinating, but eventually I’ve gotten around to setting up this blog to help out my new guildies and other WoW players out there who are looking for a legitimate gold making guide that can help them improve their game.
